By leveraging best practices for activity-based learning, sales enablement teams deliver the specific learning and job aids a seller needs to execute a buyer interaction through integrated technology. Sales onboarding ideally enables new sellers to become competent and productive in the shortest time possible. So should activity-based learning replace a more formalized onboarding process — delivering only the learning required and not burdening sales with unneeded information? Spoiler alert — the answer is no. A well-structured onboarding program must equip all new hires — regardless of experience and competencies — with the knowledge, skills and process expertise specific to their new role. However, onboarding program delivery should be aligned to sales cycle activity expectations and deconstructed into relevant assets and job aids to be used for activity-based learning as the new hire begins to execute independently.
